Sean Longstaff is open to joining Manchester United this summer but is concerned that Newcastle United are pricing him out of a move to Old Trafford, according to reports. United have held talks with Newcastle over a deal for the 21-year-old and are willing to submit a £20 million offer. But United were left stunned as Newcastle demanded in excess of £50m for the midfielder. According to The Times, Longstaff would be keen on a switch to United but ‘fears’ Newcastle’s high valuation will scupper any potential deal. Longstaff has made just nine Premier League appearances for Newcastle while his breakthrough season was cut short in March after he suffered a knee ligament injury.
The 21-year-old is currently in pre-season training with Newcastle, who remain without a manager following the departure of Rafa Benitez at the end of last month. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, meanwhile, wanted United to get the majority of their business done before the start of their pre-season tour but so far only Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have been signed. United will begin their pre-season campaign with a match against Perth Glory on Saturday.
