Nike Employee Receives A “Woo-zike” Hybrid Shoe Of Past Footwear Projects

Of all the cool gigs that exist within the Beaverton walls, Dan Sunwoo might’ve held one of the more fulfilling roles within the Nike campus. Working within the Innovation department alongside the likes of Tinker Hatfield, Eric Avar, and Mark Smith, Sunwoo was blessed with opportunities that are nothing short of a sneakerhead’s dream. In addition to creating Player Exclusives for the University of Oregon athletes, he also headed special projects like 2018’s groundbreaking Air Jordan 3 “Seoul” while contributing to the Air Max Susan, the friends-and-family Jordan Converse Pro Leather, and more.

As Dan prepares for a new role within the company, Mark Smith and his Nike colleagues crafted a farewell gift called the “Woo-zike” (a play off the Spiz’ike, a Smith original creation), a hybrid mash-up of all the shoes that he’s contributed to in the past. The left shoe is a blend of four college PEs (Fab Five 5s, Oregon 5s, Oregon 6s, Oregon 13s), while the right is based on the Pro Leather with a AJ3 “Korea” tongue, Air Max Susan mudguard, and an Air Jordan 1 heel (a forthcoming project). Check ’em out below.

StockX Warns of ‘Suspicious Activity’ and Asks Users to Change Passwords

StockX Drop-Off Pop-Up Shop
After stories surfaced of StockX users getting emails to change their passwords, first reported by Engadget, the self-proclaimed “stock market of things” said they were sent as a precautionary measure.
In a statement emailed to FN, the company said, “StockX was recently alerted to suspicious activity potentially involving our platform. Out of an abundance of caution, we implemented a security update and proactively asked our community to update their account passwords. We are continuing to investigate. As a leading technology company, the privacy of our StockX customers is of paramount importance to us.”
Engadget senior editor Edgar Alvarez called StockX out on Twitter for the way the company informed its users of a potential security breach. “Is this StockX telling me they got hacked? smells fishy,” he wrote on the social media platform.
Sneaker YouTube standout Jacques Slade, whose Twitter handle is @kustoo, sent out a tweet to his 47,000 followers suggesting people on StockX update their passwords. One user reply suggested he was a victim of a hack.
“I got charged for a bid of 23,0000 dollars. I’m waiting on the return but my bank has been overdrafted because of it. Crazy,” wrote Twitter user @shawnpmuth
In June, StockX announced it had reached unicorn status after raising $110 million in a Series C funding round, pushing its value to upwards of $1 billion. The company also announced that CEO Josh Luber would step down from his post and would be replaced by eBay’s SVP of the Americas, Scott Cutler. (StockX said that Luber, however, will serve on the firm’s executive leadership team and board of directors.)
Luber spoke with FN after the announcement about what it means to hit unicorn status.
“It’s humbling to be in that category. It still feels like Day 0 regardless of what the numbers say. The opportunity in front of us is really the interesting part of this. We’re just starting to scratch the surface on how big and powerful this model can be to not only the resale customers but also the retail customers,” Luber told FN. “Sneakers have had big growth in the last couple of years, so there are other sneaker marketplaces and business that have grown around that. But for us, we’re converging resale and retail, which is the distinction between us and the other players here. We don’t look at the $6 billion resale industry but the $100 billion retail industry, so that’s why it feels like we’re three guys in a garage and not a billion-dollar unicorn company.”

The Adidas Skateboarding Hot Streak Continues

adidas sneaker
Skateboarding might not be the first sport that comes to mind when you think of Adidas, but the brand has been on a bit of hot streak when it comes to putting out skater-approved goods. Earlier this summer, the brand-new Adidas Tyshawn, the sharp new signature sneaker for pro skater Tyshawn Jones, wowed sneakerheads and skaters alike. Now, the Three Stripes has teamed up with New York skate shop Alltimers on a next-level collection of sneakers, clothes, and accessories.
For the duo’s fourth collaboration together, Adidas and Alltimers looked to the “Adventure” collection, from Adidas's "Outdoor" sub-label. The star of the show is the newly revamped ZX 4000 silhouette, a late-1980s-era runner that has been modernized with a multicolor mix of materials and reflective elements. There is also the Gazelle Super, worn by everyone from skaters to British rockers, which gets dressed up in a grainy-yet-crisp white leather. Both styles are subtly marked with Adidas Skateboarding and Alltimers branding. A variety of outdoor-friendly apparel rounds out the collection: a vintage-y ripstop jacket, matching shorts, a graphic T-shirt, and a crewneck sweater. Plus, there is a fanny pack (or cross-body bag, depending on your birth decade) that features the bold blue and dreamy green colors used throughout the collection.
The collection falls right in that collaborative sweet spot. A reference to an obscure archival collection? Check. An official press pack full of wacky quotes from one of the brands? Check. Great-looking product? Check and check. The best collabs are when two brands genuinely meet in the middle. Adidas Skateboarding x Alltimers features timeless designs from the former and the tongue-in-cheek humor of the latter. Together, that means beautifully designed sneakers and clothes with just the right amount of youthful weirdness.

Madden NFL 20: Here are the best player ratings on every team

Madden NFL 20 is here and so are the thousands of players and their newly minted rankings. One of the most treasured parts of buying a new Madden game is seeing which players got their ratings up into the 90s, or even possibly attaining the perfect 99 rating.
Only four players got the coveted 99 rating in fact, and funnily enough, none of them were quarterbacks. Yes, not even cover athlete Patrick Mahomes got that rating.
However, as much as we like to hype up these 99 players, you need a lot more than a few amazing players to have a good team. Some teams don't even have one of these players. If you're curious to see how the player rankings stack up for each team, you've came to the right place. We broke down every team from their overall ranking to the best players they have on offense and on defense

How to watch NFL preseason games without cable

Image result for nfl
The games don't count, but they give football fans a first glimpse of what their teams will look like for the 2019 NFL season.
NFL training camps have begun, which means the 2019 season is just around the corner. Camps opened in July, preseason games run through August and the 2019 NFL season kicks off on Sept. 5. Each team plays four preseason games before it cuts down to its final, 53-man roster to begin the season.
Preseason games give fans their first look -- Madden excepted -- at last year's college stars in NFL uniforms, along with free agents who have signed with new teams. How will Odell Beckham Jr. look in brown and orange catching passes fromBaker Mayfield in Cleveland? How will Antonio Brown look in silver and black in the Raiders' last season in Oakland? After sitting out last season, will Le'Veon Bell find his groove running in Gotham Green for the new-look Jets? Will first overall pickKyler Murray look as good in Cardinal red as he did winning the Heisman Trophy last season in Sooner maroon? We'll start getting answers to these questions during the NFL preseason.
Here's how cord cutters can watch the games live without cable.

When does the NFL preseason begin?

The preseason kicked off last night with the Hall of Fame game between the Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos in Canton, Ohio. The other 30 teams will play their first preseason game next week -- between Aug. 8 and 10. (And Madden '20 comes out on Tuesday.)

How can I stream the NFL Network for preseason games?

The NFL Network will broadcast 14 preseason games live and show replays of all 65 preseason games. Click here for the NFL Network's broadcast schedule for both live games and replays of preseason games.
Live games will be blacked-out on the NFL Network in the participating teams' over-the-air station markets, but you'll be able to watch your local team's preseason games on your local CBS and Fox channel. Generally, AFC teams are on CBS, and NFC teams are on Fox.

Hall of Fame could induct up to 20 for 2020 class

Image result for Hall of Fame could induct up to 20 for 2020 class
The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced it could induct a one-time only class of 20 members next year to further commemorate the NFL's 100th anniversary. The class will include five modern era players, 10 senior era players, three contributors and two coaches.
The decision was approved by the Hall's Board of Trustees during its annual meeting Friday.
The next decisions will be announced in September as a large list of nominees in each category will be revealed. Modern era players include those whose careers ended within the past 25 seasons, while senior era players are those who have been retired for more than 25 years. Semifinalists will be chosen later in the fall and finalists will be announced in January.
A bigger class benefits the senior era most, and could be a notable development for wide receiver Sterling Sharpe and NFL All-Decade honorees like running back Roger Craig, offensive linemen Joe Jacoby, Jimbo Covert, Al Wistert, Bruno Banducci and Ox Emerson, receivers LaVern Dilweg and Drew Pearson, defensive end L.C. Greenwood, cornerback Lester Hayes and safety Cliff Harris.
The eight members of the 2019 class -- cornerback Champ Bailey, contributor Pat Bowlen, contributor Gil Brandt, tight end Tony Gonzalez, cornerback Ty Law, center Kevin Mawae, safety Ed Reed, and safety Johnny Robinson -- receive their gold jackets Friday and will be enshrined Saturday.

kylie jenner, stormi webster, street style, nyc, may 2019

While Jenner is an ambassador for Adidas, her 28-year-old boyfriend, rap star Travis Scott has a number of Jordan Brand collabs under his belt already. Scott’s upcoming Air Jordan 6 collab is expected to release on Sept. 14.

Was the Hype About the Massive Adidas Yeezy Restock Today Worth It? Insiders Have Different Views

Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2
The massive Yeezy restock on both Adidas’ website for the Kanye West brand and YeezySupply, which started at 9 a.m. ET today with three acclaimed looks — the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 “Semi Frozen Yellow,” “Butter” And “Zebra” — dominated talk in the sneaker world.
But what does it mean for Adidas and Yeezy? Sneakerheads and industry insiders differ on whether or not the excitement generated from a day full of drops was warranted.
“It feels like leftovers. But not Thanksgiving leftovers that almost taste better than they did fresh out the oven. This is like week old leftovers,” sneaker YouTube star Mr. Foamer Simpson told FN. “It just feels like them offing a bunch of inventory from Kanye’s garage or something. I don’t know, I’d be a lot more excited about a new Yeezy silhouette.”
The NPD Group Inc. senior sports industry advisor Matt Powell, however, believes customers are excited about the second chance to buy beloved shoes — but also warned against a potential long-term issue a restock of this magnitude could cause.
“I think consumers are probably excited to have access to products they missed the first time around. [But ] I do think this will have a negative impact on the resale prices. Any time there’s a restock of this kind of quantity typically it hits the resale prices really hard.”
He continued, “The real longer-term caution is they continue to have ample supply of product, which means their resale market essentially goes away. A lot of what drives the interest in this particular line is the consumer being able to flip them for a nice multiple. We saw over holiday several of the holiday releases were selling essentially for suggested retail price. That, to me, is not a good indicator when shoes that were selling for high multiples are selling for virtually nothing.”
Canada-based influencer Cid “The Kicks” Merisier hopes this is the beginning of better Yeezy inventory control.
“It gives a chance for regular folks to cop — remember, Kanye said everyone will wear Yeezy,” Merisier said. “[It appears that] Mr. West is giving the people what they want: the chance to get it like any regular shoe. No more line ups to get them or worries to get hurt for any reason. I also feel the brand should not be built around the dreaded resellers, meaning Adidas regains control of the stock being pushed.”
The restock included several Boost 350 V2, Powerphase, Boost 700, 500 and Boost 700 V2 colorways. All except the Yeezy Boost 700 V2 “Vanta” were released in men’s sizing. (The “Vanta” looks also came in sizes for kids and infants.) Prices ranged from $150 to $300.
Despite not being thrilled with what’s being offered, Mr. Foamer Simpson believes the constant talk on social media today gives both Adidas and the Yeezy brand a much-needed visibility boost.
“It’s definitely good for the brand because people have been talking about Adidas, and more specifically Yeezy’s, for the last couple days. So in that regard it’s a win,” Mr. Foamer Simpson said.

Out of jail, ASAP Rocky thanks fans — and the Swedish court that freed him

ASAP Rocky
Shortly after a Swedish court on Friday released ASAP Rocky and two colleagues from jail pending a verdict in their assault case, the rapper posted a note on Instagram thanking fans and friends for their support — and also gave a nod to the court for letting him go free.
“I can’t begin to describe how grateful I am for all of you,” wrote the performer, whose real name is Rakim Mayers. “This has been a very difficult and humbling experience.”
He added, “I want to thank the court for allowing me Bladi and Thoto to return to our family and friends.”
Within 15 minutes, the post had more than a half-million likes. Rocky, 30, hadn’t put anything up on social media since July 2, the day before he went to jail. Because Sweden has no bail system and the rapper was likely considered a flight risk, he stayed in custody up to and through his trial.

Descendants 3 Honors Late Disney Star Cameron Boyce During Premiere — Watch the Emotional Tribute

Cameron Boyce‘s Disney Channel family is celebrating the vibrant life he lived.
Descendants 3, in which Boyce starred as Cruella de Vil’s son Carlos, premiered on the Disney Channel on Friday night — nearly one month after his tragic death.
In honor of Boyce, who died suddenly at age 20 in early July, the network included a touching two-minute tribute at the end of the film.
The tribute featured smiling footage and photos of Boyce throughout his years on the Disney Channel, including his time on Jessie, in which he appeared for four seasons alongside star Debby Ryan.
A clip of Michelle Obama‘s guest appearance on Jessie was also featured, including the moment Boyce happily exclaimed “I made her laugh!” as he hugged the former First Lady.
Additionally, the montage included videos of him dancing, acting, laughing, embracing his Descendants castmates, smiling with his family, and wrapped with a young Boyce auditioning with a script in hand.
“Everything you are, every smile, every laugh, every dance, every hug, every moment, everyone you touched … you mean everything to us,” text throughout the tribute reads.
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner confirmed that Boyce died of epilepsy on July 6.
“The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner determined the cause of death for actor Cameron Boyce was sudden unexpected death in epilepsy,” the coroner said in a statement.
“On July 8, an autopsy was performed, and the cause and manner of death were deferred.”
“After additional testing, the cause of death was determined to be sudden unexpected death in epilepsy.”
The star’s “manner of death was certified as natural,” the coroner concluded.

Saoirse Kennedy Hill, found dead at her family's Cape Cod compound, battled depression

Image result for Saoirse Kennedy Hill, found dead at her family's Cape Cod compound, battled depression
Depression was the unwanted “friend” of the Robert F. Kennedy granddaughter whose death at the family’s storied Cape Cod compound was being investigated Friday by police.
Saoirse Kennedy Hill, 22, a junior at Boston College, wrote frankly about her struggle with mental illness in a 2016 essay for the student newspaper at the Massachusetts prep school she had previously attended.
Hill revealed that the “deep sadness that felt like a heavy boulder on my chest” she first felt in middle school had returned two weeks before her junior year at Deerfield Academy after “someone I knew and loved broke serious sexual boundaries with me.”
“I did the worst thing a victim can do, and I pretended it hadn’t happened,” she wrote inThe Deerfield Scroll. “This all became too much, and I attempted to take my own life.”
Hill, who was one of Robert and Ethel Kennedy’s 35 grandchildren, did not identify the “someone.” But her poignant words surfaced as the Kennedy family was forced, once again, to grapple with tragedy.
"Saoirse was fierce, both in her love for her family and yearning for justice," Robert F. Kennedy Jr. posted on Instagram. "A fearless adventurer, she inspired curiosity and daring in her friends. But her greatest gift was to find humor in everything and to give us all the gift of her laughter - and our own. The gaping hole that she leaves in our family is a wound too large to ever heal."
A day earlier, 91-year-old Ethel Kennedy released a statement of her own. “The world is a little less beautiful today,” she said.
The New York Times, citing two people close to the family, reported that Hill died Thursday of an apparent overdose.
NBC News has not confirmed that report. But the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office issued a statement Friday confirming that Hill was found "unresponsive" on the property and that an autopsy has been performed.
“The cause and manner of death are pending the toxicology report," Tara Miltimore of the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office said. “The matter remains under investigation by the Barnstable police and State Police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office.”
Hill was the daughter of Paul Hill and Courtney Kennedy, the fifth of the 11 children of Robert Kennedy, the former U.S. attorney general and New York senator who was assassinated in 1968 as he sought the Democratic presidential nomination.

Sadio Mane has spent time during his break before the new season visiting the construction site of a school he is building in Senegal.

The forward is yet to join up with the rest of the Liverpool squad due to his involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Sadio Mane visiting his hometown in Senegal
He reached the final with Senegal but they were beaten by Algeria.
The 27-year-old has been given time off to recuperate before returning to thePremier League club.
While some would be taking a well-deserved break in a lavish setting, Mane returned to his hometown village, Bambali.
The forward has stumped up £250,000 to fund a new school and has already paid for a hospital in the village.
Pictures on social media show him looking around the building site where the school is being built.
A report also claims that Mane, who scored 22 Premier League goals last season, has been handing out money to the locals as well as giving out free football kits to the local kids.
Mane is one of four Liverpool players who have been given an extended break following international involvement.

Liverpool transfer news LIVE: Barcelona receive Coutinho bid, £20m Kamano move, Guardiola responds to Klopp comments All the latest news and gossip from the Reds’ summer transfer window

Arsenal are apparently trying to sign Phillipe Coutinho on loan.
The club officials are meeting at the Joan Gamper match this Sunday and Raul Sanllehi has a good relationship with Barcelona officials.
And SPORT claim Barcelona want to sell Coutinho and may even be open to sending him on loan

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has admitted to being frustrated at his Liverpool recovery as he revealed pre-season has been a 'shock to the system'.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is striving for match sharpness having been sidelined for more than a year with a serious knee injury.
The 25-year-old featured for only 19 minutes towards the end of last season but has stepped up his rehabilitation by playing in all seven warm-up games this summer.
The midfielder, though, has revealed the difficulties he has encountered in attempting to rediscover the form that made him a favourite in the second half of his first season after arriving from Arsenal for £35million on deadline day in 2017.
“Personally it’s been a bit of a struggle,” said Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is likely to be on the bench for Sunday's Community Shield against Manchester City at Wembley.
“I forget that I haven’t played for a long time and, if I am honest, the last couple of games haven’t been at the level that I want.
“The Dortmund game I felt good but the next one (Sevilla) I felt tired and then the one after (against Sporting Lisbon) I was a bit more tired.
“A lot of the lads will feel tired in pre-season. But, for me, it’s a bit more of a shock to the system. I just keep trying to remind myself that I have been through the worst of it.
“We have played seven games since we got back. I have got through them all, which is a good thing for me.”
Pep Guardiola has responded to Jurgen Klopp's comments ahead of the Community Shield on Sunday.
The Liverpool boss said last weekend that certain clubs live in 'Fantasia-land' because they can spend ridiculous amounts of money every transfer window.
It was interpreted as a dig at Manchester City and Guardiola issued his response.
Guardiola said: “It bothers me of course because it’s not true. Liverpool are not a small team.
“I don’t like saying things that aren’t true. Last season we spent £17million on one player. I took over a team but we can’t spend hundreds of millions every season. We brought one player and Angelino so the clubs can’t spend every season.
“I am not going to comment on other managers; they can say what they say, but it’s not true.”

Jordan made his, apparently regretful, title prediction on Friday’s Sports Breakfast, with the Premier League starting again on August 9 when Liverpool play Norwich.
He said: “Manchester City have an elite coach… but I think Liverpool will win the league.
“If they can keep Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino fit, it doesn’t look like they’re going to add to their roster significantly but they’ve got players like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain coming back in with a point to prove and he was doing really well for them behind he got that injury.
“I think it will be Liverpool but I think it’ll be nip and tuck between them and Manchester City.”

Buildings in Jakarta swayed for nearly a minute during the evening quake.

The tsunami warning was issued by the Indonesian geophysics agency.
