Sami Khedira was spotted at the Emirates Stadium ahead of Arsenal’s pre-season friendly against Lyon on Sunday, amid speculation the Gunners are readying a move for the Juventus midfielder. The 32-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer of 2014 after he played a key role in Germany’s World Cup winning campaign but remained at Real Madrid for another season before joining Juventus a year later. Khedira’s career has been regularly interrupted by injuries and he managed just 17 appearances in all competitions for Juventus last season. With Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot joining the Italian champions this summer, competition for midfield places is likely to be more intense than ever and Khedira, who did not feature during Juve’s pre-season tour due to injury, is likely to be deemed surplus to requirements by the club’s new manager Maurizio Sarri.
