Texas' Jerrod Heard out vs. Texas Tech with possible head injury

AUSTIN, Texas -- Longhorns quarterback Jerrod Heard was being evaluated for a head injury Thursday night after being ruled out for the rest of the game against Texas Tech in the second quarter.
Heard took a hard hit on a third-down sack and was taken to the locker room for further evaluation.

Tyrone Swoopes has taken over at quarterback for the Longhorns, who are currently missing seven starters.
Three of Texas' top four running backs -- Johnathan Gray (foot), D'Onta Foreman (finger) and Kirk Johnson (leg) -- are sidelined with injuries, leaving freshman Chris Warren as its only option at running back.
Warren rushed for a 91-yard touchdown, a Texas freshman record, in the second quarter to tie the game up 10-10.
The Longhorns have also lost starting linebackers Peter Jinkens (knee) andMalik Jefferson (ankle) as well as defensive tackle Desmond Jackson (stomach) during the game.
Starting offensive guard Patrick Vahe was also ruled out earlier this week with a knee injury.
