Corey Linsley is out and J.C. Tretter is in at center for the Green Bay Packers’ game against the Chicago Bears on Thursday night.
Along with Linsley, who injured an ankle during the opening series of Sunday’s win at Minnesota, the Packers’ other inactives are defensive back Micah Hyde (hip), running back Alonzo Harris, outside linebacker Andy Mulumba and receivers Jared Abbrederis (ribs) and Ty Montgomery (ankle).
Without Linsley, Tretter, a fourth-round pick in 2013, will make his first NFL start. Without Hyde, rookie Quinten Rollins figures to serve as the No. 4 cornerback and play in the dime defensive package. Hyde would have returned punts and kickoffs. Without him last week, Jeff Janis handled kickoffs and Randall Cobb fielded punts. Last week, special teams coordinator Ron Zook said Rollins had impressed fielding punts, so he might be an option.
For the Bears, running back Matt Forte and receiver Alshon Jeffery are active. Forte had missed the last three games with a knee injury and Jeffery was out last week with an injured groin. Out are three starters – tight end Martellus Bennett (ribs), receiver Eddie Royal (knee) and safety Antrel Rolle (knee). The others are running back Ka’Deem Carey (head), cornerback Jacoby Glenn, offensive lineman Nick Becton and defensive tackle Will Sutton.
